Never before has humanity faced what our civilisation had to endure in 2020. It was a unique and challenging time that tested many spheres of human life, leaving its marks on art and cultural institutions.
However, despite the fact that many museums and theatres were inaccessible, and art was literally isolated from people, enthusiasts from the MART Foundation did not lose hope, continuing to imbue Moscow’s cultural spaces with new meaning.
This is how the video art project, a multi-layered synthesis of art, came to be: a performance in collaboration with renowned ballet artists performing at renowned museum venues. The mastermind who created the unique video art on the digital canvas was the talented contemporary Russian artist Anastasia Vorotnikova.
The venues for the project included famous Moscow museums — the Tretyakov Gallery, the Museum of Moscow, and the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art.
“When the stages of major Moscow exhibitions were devoid of spectators during the pandemic, a new space for dance emerged. We aimed to convey the main idea of the project — art does not lose hope and continues to fill cultural spaces with new meaning,” says Anastasia Vorotnikova.
The resulting multicultural art combo leaves no one indifferent: in the presented video art, we observe how Israeli choreographer Lotem Regev explores dance in the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, choreographer Vladimir Varnava improvises in the halls of the New Tretyakov Gallery, and the soloist of the “Ballet Moscow” Anastasia Peshkova dances in the Museum of Moscow.
Art, like nature, abhors a vacuum. The synthesis of arts, the organic fusion of different genres into an artistic whole, aesthetically organises the material and spiritual environment of human existence. At the intersection of forms and languages of expression, a qualitatively new artistic phenomenon is born, significantly more than just the sum of its components.
The presence of artists from different dance techniques in one project is very interesting; it creates a ground for dialogue and a broader platform for dance expression. Thus, the only spectator of the painting “The Bathing of the Red Horse” in the New Tretyakov Gallery is a dancer who fills the entire exhibition hall with their dance, simultaneously expressing in dance the deep personal experiences of their own and other contemporary dance artists who could not perform in the usual mode.
Another main idea of the project is to move towards each other and create something greater at this intersection of genres, reminding us of the movement of creative ideas towards one another.
Anastasia Vorotnikova: “I think, during that era of social distancing, we were all very fortunate to show closeness and warmth between people through art and contemporary dance. And to remind everyone that art and creativity continue to live always and everywhere, even behind closed doors.”

İnsanlık, medeniyetimizin 2020’de katlanmak zorunda kaldığı durumla daha önce hiç karşılaşmamıştı. İnsan yaşamının birçok alanını sınayan, sanat ve kültür kurumlarında iz bırakan eşsiz ve zorlu bir dönemdi.
Ancak birçok müze ve tiyatronun erişilemez olmasına ve sanatın insanlardan tam anlamıyla izole olmasına rağmen MART Vakfı meraklıları umutlarını kaybetmediler ve Moskova’nın kültürel alanlarına yeni anlamlar yüklemeye devam ettiler.
Sanatın çok katmanlı bir sentezi olan video sanatı projesi bu şekilde ortaya çıktı: Ünlü müze mekanlarında ünlü bale sanatçılarının işbirliğiyle gerçekleştirilen bir performans. Dijital tuvalde benzersiz video sanatını yaratan usta, yetenekli çağdaş Rus sanatçı Anastasia Vorotnikova’ydı.
Projenin mekanları arasında ünlü Moskova müzeleri (Tretyakov Galerisi, Moskova Müzesi ve Garaj Çağdaş Sanat Müzesi) yer alıyordu.
Anastasia Vorotnikova “Pandemi döneminde Moskova’daki büyük sergilerin sahneleri seyircisiz kalınca dans için yeni bir alan ortaya çıktı. Projenin ana fikrini aktarmayı amaçladık: Sanat umudunu kaybetmez ve kültürel alanları yeni anlamlarla doldurmaya devam eder” diyor.
Ortaya çıkan çok kültürlü sanat birleşimi kimseyi kayıtsız bırakmıyor: Sunulan video sanatında İsrailli koreograf Lotem Regev’in Garaj Çağdaş Sanat Müzesi’nde dansı nasıl keşfettiğini, koreograf Vladimir Varnava’nın Yeni Tretyakov Galerisi salonlarında doğaçlama yaptığını ve solistin “Moskova Balesi” Anastasia Peshkova, Moskova Müzesi’nde dans ediyor.
Sanat da doğa gibi boşluktan nefret eder. Sanatların sentezi, farklı türlerin sanatsal bir bütün halinde organik birleşimi, insan varoluşunun maddi ve manevi ortamını estetik olarak düzenler. İfade biçimlerinin ve dillerinin kesişme noktasında, bileşenlerinin toplamından çok daha fazlası olan, niteliksel olarak yeni bir sanatsal olgu doğar.
Bir projede farklı dans tekniklerinden sanatçıların yer alması oldukça ilgi çekici; diyalog için bir zemin ve dansın ifadesi için daha geniş bir platform yaratır. Böylece, Yeni Tretyakov Galerisi’ndeki “Kızıl Atın Yıkanması” tablosunun tek izleyicisi, tüm sergi salonunu dansıyla dolduran, aynı zamanda kendisinin ve diğer çağdaş dans sanatçılarının derin kişisel deneyimlerini dansta ifade eden bir dansçıdır. her zamanki modda performans sergileyemeyen.
Projenin bir diğer ana fikri de türlerin bu kesişiminde birbirine doğru hareket etmek ve daha büyük bir şey yaratmak, yaratıcı fikirlerin birbirine doğru hareketini hatırlatıyor.
